Tulle Tutu

Since I have a little girl, I love to dress her up for any occasion that I can think of. Halloween was no exception. I went a little crazy and made her the cutest little scarecrow costume. My inspiration came from this picture I found on Pinterest. I loved everything about this tutu costume, but I was not sure how to go about making it. That is until I saw this post on how to make a tutu for a little baby... thank you Pinterest. I ended up for the most part following the directions, but I made a few mistakes that made it turn out even better.

First I got three different types of tulle. (copper, chocolate brown, and butter). I ended up using about two thirds of each roll. I then measured on my little girl just how long I wanted my tutu to be and added about a inch to it.
*Now here is the genius idea. I found a book that was half the length of my desired tutu. I then wrapped the tulle around the book several times. Next I cut the tulle from the ridge on top of the book. Walla instant tulle strips.
I then measured around her torso to see how much elastic I would need. (I ended up needing to sew the elastic two inches shorter then measured because it stretched out as I tied the tulle on)
I then took each piece of tulle, alternating them, and double knotted them on the elastic. And just like that you are done. Easy as pie. Who knew making a tutu was this easy!

Side Note: I also found it helpful to put the elastic around a book as I tied the tulle on.

Here is more pictures of Emma modeling her super cute costume.
